BabyApp. A Mobile App for Parents With Children Aged 0–2

https://first.school/
BabyApp mobile app produces a personalized development program for your child based on the results of a diagnostic checklist. BabyApp contains training courses and marathons on parenting, articles and tips of the day to reduce parental anxiety.
PROBLEM ADDRESSEDThere are about 3 million children aged 0 to 2 in Russia. Many parents are concerned about pediatric emergency care, massage, sleep, complementary feeding, and other issues. However, they do not have enough information about the benefits of early development. As a result, they are left alone with their questions and concerns. Often parents confuse early development with early learning of a particular skill, believing that this should be done by a specialist. Pediatricians, who communicate most with young parents, have no feasible opportunity to explain to moms during an appointment what early childhood development really is. BabyApp popularizes the idea of early development and helps produce an individual development program for each child.

1. Developed the “First.School Methodology”, supporting harmonious development of all mental spheres of neurotypical children aged 0 to 2 years.
2. Produced 18 diagnostic checklists that parents fill out to create a personalized program of lessons with their child.
3. Created 1,800+ fun developmental exercises, with videos and text instructions for parents.
4. Filmed and edited 17 courses and marathons answering parents’ most frequent questions. All courses are concise and applied. 5 to 15 minutes a day is enough to master the material of interest.
5. Wrote 400+ articles answering parents’ questions.
6. Formulated 731 emotional support tips for moms.
7. Conducted 50+ webinars and live broadcasts at the request of users.
8. Created platforms for communication between parents and psychologists in social media.

1. A positive review by the Expert Center of St. Petersburg State University (Varvara Anikina, Ph.D. in Psychology, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mental Health of Children and Parents) received.
2. A positive review from the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University (Galina Suslova, M. D., head of the Department of Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Postgraduate and Additional Professional Education) received.
3. App trials completed successfully in women’s crisis centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
4. BabyApp mobile app successfully tested at an early development center in the Krasnodar Krai.
5. A training course on “First.School Methodology” conducted and 21 certifcates issued to psychologists and teachers planning to work with mother-and-child pairs.
WHAT WAS DONE LAST YEAR1. Received positive reviews from the professional communities.
2. Conducted 870 game lessons and flmed videos for the app, which moms are now using to teach their babies.
3. Presented the project at the Ananiev Readings, an international scientifc conference conducted annually by the Psychology Department of St. Petersburg State University.
DIRECT RESULTS FOR 20215,000+ downloads of the mobile app.
SOCIAL EFFECTS ACHIEVED IN 20211. 350+ moms exercising with their children on a regular basis.
2. Reduced risk of child abandonment among underage mothers (according to questionnaires used to test the BabyApp at women’s crisis centers).
SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC IMPACTPlanned impact: Active promotion of the BabyApp mobile app in the professional and parenting communities.

45
The term and theory were first voiced by the American mathematician and economist Nassim Taleb (he outlined the theory in “Fooled by Randomness” (2004) and introduced the term itself in “Black Swan” (2007). By “Black Swan” Nassim Taleb means an event that initially seems rare and difficult to predict. He cites some examples of the “black swans” from the last century: the development of the Internet, World War I, the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001.
