Часть составного сказуемого после глаголов, обозначающих начало или конец действия: to start = начинать; to finish = заканчивать; to go on = продолжать; to stop = останавливаться; to give up = сдаваться, отказываться; to put off = откладывать; to keep / keep on = продолжать

She started speaking on the phone. = Она начала разговаривать по телефону.
