Yesterday and Today. A Walk in the Garden

Hello! I’m Mark. That’s what they call me at home. And on a walk they call me Mark too. And on the bus. But I rarely ride the bus. A bus ride is an event. And yesterday was, at first glance, just an ordinary walk. Now I understand it became an event. Thanks to me, Mark.

Mom says that Mark is my name. And every morning I, Mark, crawl out from under my blanket, announce myself to the world, have breakfast, and go outside. For a walk. In our little garden near the house. Today I walked with Grandma. And that changed the world.

– And how did it change the world? – you may ask.

Ask away. I’ll tell you now. Patience. Do you see that little turtle over there? The turtle eating clover and warming itself in the sun. The warm sun. Today she just eats, happy with life and with herself. But it wasn’t always like that. Yesterday was very different.

I found her in a very awkward situation. She was trying to climb a step. The first step of a tall staircase. She tried for a very long time. I even got tired of watching her, she tried for so long.

I had time to play ball and come back. And she was still trying. I had time to water a flower in a pot and also my sock. And she was still trying. I had time to go home and change my socks. Both of them. Funny, why change both socks if I only watered one? But since I don’t yet know how to change socks by myself, Mom helped me. And Mom always changes both socks at once. I trust Mom. Mom knows everything in the world. Even about socks. But still… curious.
