An excellent match

The Ox (#ulink_daa3f789-d2d5-54c4-8f40-6eaedbf8b46c)

Key characteristics:

Resolute, strong willed, ambitious, careful, patient, stubborn.

In love:

Loyal, caring and dependable.

Whether ploughing a field or pulling a cart, the ox is a strong and disciplined worker. The second of the Chinese signs is governed by equilibrium and tenacity and has a calm, quiet and orderly manner. While he may appear reserved, he is both resolute and tenacious.

The Ox sets about life in a cautious and methodical way. He plans his activities carefully and does not like change or anything too gimmicky or innovative. The Ox is a down-to-earth sort of person and while he may sometimes lack tact, at least those who come in contact with him know exactly where he stands.

The Ox is methodical, diligent and often a loner. He likes to conduct his activities in his own way and to his own exacting standards. The Ox also prefers to specialize and have set interests rather than engage in a wide variety of activities.

The lady Ox is a practical person. She is keenly aware of her responsibilities and is supportive to her partner and her children. She also takes much delight in maintaining her home and others often marvel at her capabilities.

The male Ox is quiet but confident in his manner. He may not be as outgoing as other signs, but he has a sharp mind and a steely resolve.

However, the Ox does have his weaknesses. He can be stubborn and intransigent and does not adapt well to change. He can be prejudiced, inflexible and intolerant, he also has an awesome temper, although fortunately it is only used on rare occasions.

Famous Oxen

Napoleon Bonaparte, Charlie Chaplin, George Clooney, Keira Knightley, Barack Obama, Bruce Springsteen, Meryl Streep.

Ox and Ox

General Relations

There is respect and admiration between two Oxen but not always close friendship. Oxen are resolute, ambitious and often loners and while one Ox may recognize the qualities and tenacity in another Ox, they often prefer to keep their distance. Each Ox cherishes his independence and each likes to have his own way.

Both are hard and tenacious workers and if united by a common goal their perseverance and determination is invariably rewarded. In a working relationship between two Oxen it might be best if there is a clear division of responsibilities, otherwise there may be a tussle for authority. However, their ambitious and strong-willed natures can make them a powerful force.

In Love and Marriage

Oxen like secure, stable and calm lifestyles. As they have many common interests – and a mutual dislike of change – they may find a certain contentment together. As a couple they will conduct their activities in an orderly and efficient manner and as neither have expensive tastes most Ox couples are materially well off. Both also have practical natures and an Ox couple take much delight in creating and maintaining their home.

Oxen are loyal and faithful and keenly aware of their responsibilities, and as a couple there will be a great deal of trust between them. If Oxen have children they make conscientious, caring – but also strict – parents.

However, problems will arise. Both are strong-willed and stubborn so compromise may be difficult. As Oxen tend to be set in their ways, the relationship may be devoid of excitement or sparkle.

A good match

Ox and Tiger

General Relations

The Ox and Tiger are two forceful and determined signs and their personalities and temperaments simply clash. Neither finds it easy to relate to the other and general relations between them are poor. The practical and down-to-earth Ox finds the Tiger restless and volatile, while the Tiger views the Ox as unadventurous and intractable.

The differences in personality are also evident when they work together. The Tiger, often bubbling with enthusiasm and new ideas, finds the cautious Ox far too much of a restraining and inhibiting influence, while the Ox considers the Tiger rash, reckless and impulsive. Both signs clash and are likely to go their separate ways.

In Love and Marriage

A match between these two signs may prove both difficult and challenging.

Although there maybe initial attraction between the Ox and the Tiger, a relationship will be difficult to maintain. The Ox prefers to set about his activities in a calm, methodical and orderly manner, while the Tiger is far more adventurous and outgoing. He revels in challenges and new situations and indulges in a wide range of activities. The Ox and Tiger live life at different speeds and in different ways.

The two signs have few interests in common. The Tiger likes to lead an active social life, while the Ox is not a great socializer. The Tiger is passionate and seeks fun and – while the Ox too enjoys life in his own way – he tends not to be as outgoing as the Tiger and is far more serious and restrained.

A difficult match

Ox and Rabbit

General Relations

The Ox and Rabbit admire each other and can become firm and loyal friends. Both prefer the quieter things in life and have many interests they can share. They relate well to each other and there is a good level of trust and understanding between them.

Both are methodical, diligent and conscientious workers and they like to plan their activities carefully. In a business relationship each benefits from the other. The Rabbit values the strength, tenacity and resolution of the Ox, while the Ox appreciates the shrewd business sense and commercial acumen of the Rabbit. They trust and support each other well. Admittedly neither are big risk-takers and both are conservative in outlook, but their joint skills usually bring them much success.

In Love and Marriage

There is considerable attraction between the Ox and Rabbit and in love and marriage they can find much happiness.

Although there are many personality differences between them – the Ox being more assertive than the Rabbit – they complement each other well. The Rabbit delights in having such a resolute, dependable and protective partner, while the Ox values the thoughtful, intelligent and affectionate ways of the Rabbit. Both signs are quiet and peaceloving and neither wants to pursue a particularly frenzied or volatile lifestyle. They both value their home life and are most supportive and attentive to each other. Together they appreciate music, literature and the arts and may have a fondness for the countryside.

With their methodical and conscientious natures – they each have the skill to earn a great deal – most Ox-Rabbit couples are materially well off.

An ideal match

Ox and Dragon

General Relations

Although the Ox and Dragon may admire and respect each other they rarely become close friends. The Dragon is an extrovert, always active and a keen socializer. The Ox is quieter, more of a loner and lives life at a totally different speed to the Dragon. They have few interests in common and each prefers spending time with those more in tune with his own interests and personalities.

Relations between the Ox and Dragon improve when they work together. Both are ambitious and diligent workers and each recognizes the qualities in the other. The Ox values the enterprise and enthusiasm of the Dragon, while the Dragon appreciates the tenacity and persistence of the Ox. When united by a common objective the Ox and Dragon make a formidable team.

In Love and Marriage

The Ox and Dragon each have qualities that the other admires and for a time they may be attracted to each other. Each enjoys being with an opposite – an introvert exploring the world of an extrovert and vice versa.

However, despite any initial attraction between the Ox and Dragon, the long-term prospects for their relationship are difficult.

Both the Ox and Dragon are forceful characters and each may try to dominate the relationship. They can also both be stubborn and their forthright natures may lead to many heated exchanges. The Dragon likes to lead an active social life and engages in a wide variety of activities, while the Ox prefers a much gentler existence and prefers spending time quietly at home. The Dragon may feel restricted by the Ox, while the Ox may be unsettled by the restlessness of the Dragon.

A difficult match

Ox and Snake

General Relations

Thes Ox and Snake have much in common and general relations between them are good. Both have quiet and reserved natures and feel comfortable in each other’s company. There is trust and understanding between them and they relate well to each other. The Ox admires the Snake’s thoughtful and reflective ways, while the Snake values the Ox’s caring, confident and determined nature.

The Ox and Snake also work well together. Both are ambitious and keen to make the most of their considerable talents. The Snake in particular values the tenacity, willpower and determination of the Ox, while the Ox values the Snake’s keen business sense and original ideas. They trust and respect each other and as colleagues make a successful combination.
