‘I’m not trying to take anything away from you, Anneliese. Coming with you was Cindy’s idea, remember? There’s independence and there’s independence. And a responsible girl would know the difference.’

‘Are you saying I’m irresponsible?’

‘No. Not intentionally at any rate.’
